With the controversial elections being held in the U.S. this year, another issue has risen from the muck of the social divide through out the world, the Olympics 2008.Most civilized people would find it completely insane to find the Olympics as controversial. The reason is that China is involved in a large quantity of human rights issues, and the violence outbreak in Tibet, is on the rap of the Chinese Government. Protesters across the world have been asking their leaders to stand down the invitation to attend the Olympics opening ceremonies. Pre-summer events begin with the popular event of the torch relay. In Paris, the torch was being carried, and because of days events with the angered protesters, the torch had to be extinguished several times (total of 5, according to CNN.)Along with the protests around the world, even in the U.S. some are protesting the games. 15 members of Congress have officially asked the current administration, President to skip out of the opening ceremonies. According to CNN, a letter was written by the 15 U.S. Representatives, asking bush not to attend the opening ceremonies, due to the current conflict in Tibet. Now, Senator Hillary Clinton is getting herself into the action as well.
Should the Governments across the world, boycott, the Olympics, due to the outbreak of violence? Or, should we as Americans ignore the violence in Tibet, and support this year’s event?

During the election process, media today has been feeding off of the attempts of the top campaigners, Senator Obama, Senator Clinton, and Senator McCain. With that at mind we notice that to help feed the media, those campaigns use advertisements and smear attempts at the opposing candidates. At attempt to scare voters into voting for Clinton, an advertisement that went out earlier this week, “Who would you want to answer the phone”, suggesting that Clinton is more prepared than the other candidates to respond to a national security issue. Sen. Clinton’s campaign is in serious turmoil right at the moment, gearing up for Texas. Texas, is going to be a key state for Clinton to win if, she doesn’t she could possibly lose her place in the race. Chelsea has replied (in a since of being shocked), very bluntly by saying, “…I don’t think it’s any of your business!” The Clinton-Lewinsky scandal has crept up several times in recent months, during Senator Hillary Clinton’s run for presidency. The Obama camp instigated an investigation into the information from the National Archives, to release documents providing information to the Senators whereabouts during her husband’s affair with Monica Lewinsky. Now, students across America are also asking, it has hurt Senator Clinton’s reputation. Clinton still tailing behind Senator Barack Obama’s lead, will the scandal reflect her run for presidency?
Chelsea Clinton added to her blunt statement, by proclaiming, “I don’t think that you should be voting for or against my mother because of my father.”
A new Gallup poll released Tuesday, shows that the Democrats wouldn’t mind Senator Barack Obama as the Vice President on Clinton’s ticket, but oddly enough the opposite is opposed, only providing a larger gap in the Democratic Party. As the democratic campaign urges on, many people vary when it comes to the outcome. Still no clear picture to who the Democratic Party will nominate. Some Democratic Leaders urged this past week, for Senator Hillary Clinton to withdraw from the race and allow her running mate to take stand. Sen. Clinton urged on her recent visit to Indianapolis, that she will stay in the race despite criticism from Democratic leaders. Clinton was quoted in saying, “”There are some folks saying we ought to stop these elections…, I didn’t think we believed that in America. I thought we of all people knew how important it was to give everyone a chance to have their voices heard and their votes counted.”

Clinton more or less depending on beating Obama on his 11 wins, with political analysts stating that if she doesn’t win she will have a hard time from here on out, and most likely being the demise of her campaign.
The Main issues at hand that the two Democratic candidates are focusing on in Texas and Ohio are the economy and N.A.F.T.A. In Ohio, voters have blamed N.A.F.T.A. for the loss of thousands of manufacture jobs.

While the Republican Party took a clear and clean sweep in the primaries Tuesday evening, the nomination for the Democratic Party is still up for discussion, or more or less argument.
Sen. John McCain took all of the states that held primaries yesterday, that including Texas, Rhode Island, Ohio, and Vermont. Mike Huckabee Republican running mate for McCain dropped out of the race Tuesday evening, making it a clear statement that the Democratic Party still has not made its vision clear as to who will take the nomination.
Sen. Obama, with his 12 straight victories, has kept his lead over Sen. Clinton. This in turn brought an interesting twist for the party, with her grand winnings of Texas, Ohio, and Rhode Island.
On the delegate race, Obama has received votes from 1520 and Clinton has recieved1424. To win the nomination, the Democratic National Convention delegates must have 2025, according to CNN.

After Tuesday nights, victory for McCain, taking the nomination for the Republican candidacy, the key endorsement which now, will either help or hurt depending on your own personal views, from the current administration.
Sen. John McCain’s statement to the press after President Bush’s announcement, “”I appreciate his endorsement, and I appreciate his service to our country.” The president also stated, “He’s gonna be a president who will bring determination to defeat an enemy.”
Political advocates from the Republican and Democratic parties, see this as a key point in John McCain’s race to The White House. Their views though are roughly scattered. Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, believes that this is going to be the point where McCain will be more opt to focus on his ability to Unify the Republican Party on his campaign and on his presidency.
A democratic strategist and CNN contributor, Paul Begala was quoted in saying, “He’s embraced the Bush tax cuts that he voted against. He was against them being temporary; now he wants them being permanent. That’s like marrying a girl you didn’t want to date. He is rushed to Bush’s Social Security plan, even disavowing his own Social Security plan on his own Web site. He has now become Bush’s third term.” Will the endorsement from President Bush, help Senator McCain, or will it be his demise for the race? Guess we will have to see in November!
Sen. John McCain, today held his first meetings with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The topic of discussion was with the War in Iraq. With the 5th year anniversary of the beginning of the war in Iraq just the day before, the Senator toured the middle East and met with leaders there, ending his tour with the Prime Minister.
In the meeting with the Prime Minister, Senator John McCain, stated, “The problem with Iraq, in my view, is that it was mishandled after the initial success,”. Sen. McCain is getting his feet wet, by making it a point to get out and speaking with American allies old and new. While the Democratic party is still trying to decide who is better, the Republican Senator is working on getting his point across the World instead of in our backyards. Sure sign that the Democratic Party needs to get a hold on the real issue.
